Meet the Staff with Zoe Parkin

As part of our ever-growing team, we’re introducing you to Administrative Assistant Zoe Parkin. We have a quick chat with Zoe to discover what her role within the Operations Team entails and a little about the steps she took to secure her place with Transmit Group, as well as what she likes to do to relax away from the office!

What is your current position at Transmit Start-Ups?

I am Administrative Assistant here at Transmit, which means I perform a number of tasks around loan applications coming in. I register Referral Partners, request and check documents sent in by applicants, credit check applicants entering their details into the system, move them on to be assigned out to Business Advisers and answer emails from applicants.

What does a typical day at Transmit Start-Ups look like for you?

I’m only here 3 days a week so I tend to work long days, just to get through the workload, and we are always very busy. In addition to the above task I also help with other things like reviews, performing eligibility checks and credit inputs.

What is your background prior to joining Transmit Start-Ups and what made you decide to join the company?

I’ve worked at Newcastle Airport for the last 11 years but decided to go back to college to study health care and work at Transmit part time. I found out about Transmit through my friend Joy who has been working here since early 2016. The reason I decided to join Transmit was he way they care about applicants and they were willing to accommodate my college days.

What do you like to do away from the office to relax, do you have any hobbies or other interests?

I spend time with my family and see friends most of the time (when I’m not at working or studying!) and I enjoy taking my dog on long walks.

What is it about working with start-ups that you like?

I enjoy getting new clients set up in our system and helping them in the early stages of their loan applications. This is the start of a journey for many of the entrepreneurs who approach, which is a very exciting (and sometimes challenging) time for them. My job is to make it as easy as possible for them and we get to work with some really interesting people.

If you could give one tip to a Start Up Loan applicant what would it be?

You'd be surprised how many people don't give us their full names, or correct names, at the start of the process which, as you can probably imagine, creates problems when it comes to things like running credit checks. So my advice would be to make sure you give us your full name (spelt correctly!) and have as much paperwork ready which will help speed up the process. We like to expedite all loan applications but we can only work as quickly as the client allows us to.

If you’re thinking about setting up your own business or need any advice or questions answered on the start-up and application process, give us a call or drop us an email, we’d love to hear from you!
